Description

About the Role

This is a high-ownership attorney role at an AI-native legaltech startup, sitting at the intersection of legal practice and product development. You will serve as a trusted legal resource for growing tech company clients while helping build and refine the internal platform and playbooks that make fast, high-quality contract review possible. The work you do here directly shapes how legal services are delivered at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Review and negotiate commercial contracts, advising clients on product and privacy matters.

  • Interpret contract terms and surface key obligations, risks, and anomalies clearly and efficiently.

  • Operate and improve internal AI-assisted tooling in close collaboration with product and engineering teams.

  • Identify patterns and inefficiencies in the review process, then design and implement improvements.

  • Standardize recurring contract types, review playbooks, and quality standards across the team.

  • Maintain turnaround commitments and SLA standards without sacrificing quality.

  • Partner with operations to evolve how legal services are delivered as the company scales.

What We're Looking For

  • J.D. and active California bar membership in good standing.

  • 5 to 8 years of law practice with significant experience supporting technology companies.

  • Prior experience as in-house counsel or sole legal counsel at a company.

  • Strong expertise in corporate, commercial, product, and privacy law; exposure to venture capital and emerging companies is a plus.

  • Experience with or genuine enthusiasm for AI-assisted legal workflows and legal technology.

  • Track record building legal playbooks and standardized processes.

  • Impeccable attention to detail with the ability to spot risks others overlook.

  • Comfortable operating with urgency, ambiguity, and high ownership in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong professional responsibility and legal ethics grounding.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
