About the Role

This is a high-ownership legal role at an AI-native legaltech company that combines licensed attorneys with AI agents to deliver fast, predictable contract review and negotiation for technology companies. You'll work directly with clients as an extension of their in-house legal team while also shaping the internal workflows and tooling that define how modern legal services are delivered.

What You'll Do

  • Review and negotiate commercial contracts, advising clients on product and privacy matters.

  • Interpret contract terms and surface key obligations, risks, and anomalies for clients.

  • Partner with legal, product, and engineering teams to move contracts through efficiently and accurately.

  • Operate and improve internal AI-assisted tooling to streamline the review process.

  • Identify inefficiencies and patterns in review workflows, then design and implement fixes.

  • Standardize and codify recurring contract types, playbooks, and quality standards.

  • Protect turnaround and SLA commitments while upholding a high quality bar.

  • Partner with operations to evolve service delivery as the company scales.

What We're Looking For

  • J.D. and active California bar membership in good standing.

  • 5–8 years of law practice with significant experience supporting technology companies.

  • Experience as in-house counsel or sole legal counsel (required).

  • Strong expertise in corporate, commercial, product, and privacy law.

  • Proven ability to review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts (NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, DPAs, vendor agreements, etc.).

  • Impeccable attention to detail and a talent for spotting risks others miss.

  • Comfortable operating with urgency and ownership in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

  • Experience with or genuine enthusiasm for AI-assisted legal workflows and legal technology.

  • Strong grounding in professional responsibility and legal ethics.

  • Exposure to early-stage companies or venture capital is a plus.

  • Experience building legal playbooks and standardized processes is a plus.
