Description

About the role:

Design at Eve is at an inflection point. We've shipped a product that 1,000+ law firms use every day — and we're now building the design team to match our ambition. You'll own complex product surfaces end to end, partner closely with product and engineering to shape direction, and help raise the bar for how design works across the org. We're a team-first group — we champion each other's work, push each other's thinking, and co-create together. Design at Eve is AI-first. The workflow moves from LLM to code prototype to Figma, using tools like Claude and Cursor to validate fast. We want designers who already work this way, or who are ready to make it their default. The domain is genuinely hard — multi-party workflows, AI-generated content that users stake their reputation on, people working under real pressure. If that excites you, and you want to help define how design works at Eve for years to come, this is the role.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the full arc of design work — not just the deliverables. You define the problem, shape the approach, and stay engaged through launch and iteration. You push back when the framing is wrong, and you advocate for the user when short-term pressure pushes in the wrong direction.
  • Set the standard for craft and design quality on the team. Your work demonstrates what thoughtful, rigorous, AI-native product design looks like at Eve — and you create the conditions for others to learn from it. You contribute to critique culture, share prompts and patterns, and give feedback that makes work better without making people smaller.
  • Use AI throughout the entire design process. From clarifying intent and surfacing edge cases early, to drafting specs, stress-testing decisions mid-project, and accelerating handoff — tools like Claude are embedded at every stage.
  • Prototype first, prototype often. Use Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools to validate flows and interactions before they're fully designed. Partner with engineers on what moves into the product. Translate validated concepts into Figma or the tool of your choice for full-state coverage, system alignment, and handoff.
  • Establish and scale design practices across the org. You identify gaps in how we work — in process, in shared patterns, in how feedback flows and identify solutions to new ways of working.
  • Design for complexity without making it visible. Our users span many roles across law firms. Your job is to make AI-powered, multi-step legal workflows feel simple, trustworthy, and fast — even when the underlying complexity is enormous.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience: Meaningful time designing complex, systems-heavy products with a wide scope. A background in B2B is helpful but not required — what matters is that you've navigated real product complexity and owned work end to end.
  • True ownership: You can point to work where you defined the problem, not just solved it. You've pushed back on scope, driven alignment across functions, and stayed engaged through launch and post-launch iteration.
  • AI-native workflow: You actively use LLMs in your design process for spec-writing, edge-case surfacing, rapid prototyping, and cross-functional alignment. You've used tools like Cursor or Claude Code to prototype interactions and validate behavior.
  • Design systems fluency — including imperfect ones: You can do great work within a system that's still maturing, improve it as you go, and speak the language of component architecture with engineers.
  • Opinionated and articulate: You bring a clear perspective on problems, can defend your design decisions, and know when to update your thinking based on new information.
  • Collaborative mentor: You genuinely invest in the people around you. You give feedback with care, create space for others to grow, and make the team better.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience designing AI-generated or AI-augmented product experiences (content, recommendations, automation)
  • Background in legal tech, healthtech, or other regulated, document-heavy domains
  • Experience building or contributing to a design system
  • Familiarity with front-end fundamentals: components, states, data modeling
  • Experience establishing design practices in a team that's scaling
