About the role
We're looking for an Art Director to help shape how Claude shows up in brand campaigns. You'll be a hands-on creative partner working closely with our brand and marketing teams, concepting and driving campaigns. We need someone who's built ideas from a brief, sold them in a room, and seen them through to production. You should be as comfortable sketching a concept on a whiteboard as you are directing a photographer on set or briefing an agency partner. Some campaigns you'll build and ship entirely in-house; others you'll run through external agencies, acting as the creative through-line between our team and theirs. Either way, you're hands-on and you own the outcome.
This role is deep in campaign craft, but broad beyond it. Within a campaign, you hold the bar for the work, down to the last detail. Beyond it, you think strategically about how the work radiates outward, builds the Claude brand as a whole, and connects across the business.
Responsibilities
- Concept and art direct integrated campaigns for Claude from initial brief through final production across digital, video, and print.
- Direct photo and video shoots, working with directors, photographers, illustrators, animators, and production partners to bring campaigns to life.
- Flex between executing work in-house and directing it through agency partners. When we go external, you're the creative lead in the room, translating brand context, giving clear feedback, and keeping the work ours.
- Develop campaign visual systems with repeatable creative frameworks that give a campaign range while keeping it recognizably ours.
- Shape Claude’s brand storytelling, finding compelling ways to turn product capabilities and user experiences into narratives people actually want to engage with.
- Serve as a creative partner to the brand and product marketing teams, bringing audience insight and brand strategy to life through bold creative concepts and sharp visual direction.
- Ensure brand consistency and raise the bar for quality across all Claude touchpoints.
You may be a good fit if you
- 12+ years of experience with a portfolio rooted in campaign work, showing concept development, art direction, and execution across multiple channels and formats.
- Have worked both sides of the agency relationship. You can build a campaign with your own hands, and you can steer an external team without losing the thread.
- Have directed shoots and worked closely with photographers, illustrators, or production teams. You know how to get the best work out of collaborators.
- Can move between strategic thinking and hands-on execution without losing momentum. You’re comfortable doing the work, not just directing it.
- Have experience building consumer-facing or product brand campaigns and understand how to make that work feel distinctive and human.
- Are drawn to brand-building work—shaping perception, building affinity, and raising the bar for how a company shows up in the market.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and can manage multiple campaigns and workstreams without sacrificing quality.
