Description

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

The Manager, Summer Math Enrichment leads the work that brings BEAM's Los Angeles summer programs to life.

You'll lead a local team responsible for enrolling students, building relationships with schools and families, preparing sites and staff, and making sure the many moving pieces of summer programming come together. Each year, you'll also step into the program yourself as a Site Director, leading a team responsible for creating an exceptional summer experience for students.

BEAM's summer programs aren't traditional math camps. Students tackle unfamiliar problems, develop mathematical reasoning, and learn to persist when the answer isn't immediately obvious. Just as importantly, they become part of a community of young people who are excited about math and STEM.

  • BEAM Discovery, our day program for rising 6th graders, serves 100–150 students per site and focuses on building mathematical confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging.
  • BEAM Summer Away, our residential program for rising 7th graders, serves 40–50 students per site and challenges students to deepen their mathematical thinking, independence, and perseverance.

Students often describe their first BEAM summer as transformative. For many, it's the beginning of a relationship with BEAM that continues through high school, college, and into STEM careers. In this role, you'll help create that starting point for hundreds of Los Angeles students.
