Strategic Finance Director

About us
Gimlet is building the first multi-silicon neocloud designed for fast, efficient AI inference.
We combine large-scale compute infrastructure with an execution platform that partitions AI workloads and maps each stage to the hardware best suited to run it.
We work with foundation labs, hyperscalers, and AI-native companies, giving our team access to technical problems spanning frontier models, production infrastructure, and emerging hardware.
About the role
As a Director of Capital Markets and Strategic Finance, you will work directly with the Head of Finance and executive leadership to finance Gimlet’s multi-billion-dollar compute and data center deployment program. The two Directors will operate as senior individual contributors and transaction leads, with complementary coverage across financing structures, capital providers, deployments, and strategic transactions.
Compute is our product and our largest balance-sheet commitment. Every deployment requires decisions across data center capacity, hardware financing, SPV and asset-backed structures, lease arrangements, customer contracts, and equity capital. Financing is therefore a core strategic function at Gimlet—not a back-office one.
You will lead financing processes end to end, own senior relationships with lenders and capital providers, and build the transaction and capital-structure models that determine how Gimlet finances new capacity. You will partner across Infrastructure, Data Center Operations, Finance, Legal, GTM, and Product to evaluate risk, negotiate terms, and close transactions against aggressive deployment timelines.
This is a hands-on builder and deal-lead role for someone with deep experience in structured finance, project or infrastructure finance, leveraged finance, private credit, or debt capital markets who wants to move to the principal side of the table. It is not an FP&A role; Gimlet is building that function separately.
What success looks like
In the first 6-18 months, you will:
Develop and execute Gimlet’s debt capital markets strategy across GPU- and asset-backed facilities, equipment and vendor financing, SPVs, project-level structures, revolving facilities, and lease financing
Lead financing processes from lender outreach and diligence through structuring, negotiation, documentation, and close
Build and manage relationships with lenders, private credit and infrastructure funds, equipment lessors, financing advisors, and other institutional capital providers
Own the capital structure and deployment models used to evaluate capacity scenarios, unit economics, covenant headroom, cost of capital, liquidity, and returns
Underwrite data center and compute commitments in partnership with Infrastructure and Data Center Operations
Evaluate customer contracts, leases, and strategic arrangements, including prepayment, take-or-pay, warrant, and risk-allocation structures
Support equity and strategic capital transactions where they intersect with Gimlet’s overall capital structure, lender requirements, or deployment program
Lead lender and investor reporting, including covenant compliance, board materials, and ongoing communications
Evaluate corporate development opportunities, including strategic partnerships, data center leases, and asset acquisitions
Coordinate closely with the separately staffed FP&A team, while remaining accountable for financing analysis, transaction execution, capital-provider materials, and facility compliance
You may be a good fit if you have
7–12 years of experience in structured finance, project or infrastructure finance, leveraged finance, private credit, debt capital markets, or an in-house capital-markets role
A track record of structuring and executing complex debt or asset-backed financing transactions
Experience leading commercial negotiations of term sheets, credit agreements, and other financing documentation in partnership with legal counsel
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including the ability to evaluate capital structures, contractual economics, risk allocation, and investment returns
Executive presence and experience representing a company with lenders, investors, financing advisors, and other institutional counterparties
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build and defend board, lender, and investor materials
The ability to move between detailed analysis and executive-level decisions while managing multiple workstreams under tight timelines
Comfort operating with limited structure and building new processes in a fast-moving environment
Strong candidates may also have
Direct experience financing data centers, GPU fleets, compute infrastructure, or other capital-intensive assets
Experience with equipment facilities, project finance, structured credit, securitization, sale-leasebacks, or financing secured by contracted revenue
Experience at a data center operator, neocloud, hyperscaler, AI infrastructure company, or energy and power business
Experience executing growth-equity fundraises or other strategic capital transactions
Familiarity with data center leases, colocation and build-to-suit structures, power contracting, or large-scale hardware procurement
Experience with usage-based revenue models, long-term compute contracts, prepayments, or take-or-pay arrangements
Prior in-house experience in strategic finance, treasury, investor relations, FP&A, or corporate development
An MBA or equivalent advanced degree
