Systems Engineer II

We are looking for a highly motivated Systems Engineer II to join our team!

As a Systems Engineer II, you will contribute to the development, testing, and optimization of cutting-edge instrumentation as part of our systems engineering team.

This is a full time onsite position at our Fremont, CA location.

How You’ll Contribute

• Execute end-to-end development including planning, development, optimization, and testing of workflows for life science automation and liquid handling systems. Own workflow from concept to customer delivery
• Collaborate with hardware and software development engineers to implement improvements in automation process efficiency and reliability
• Operate, troubleshoot and customize hardware and software components
• Interface with stakeholders to collect and define requirements, and provide user training and documentation
• Work with Chemistry and Biology teams to translate and optimize manual lab processes on automated machines
• Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• BS or MS in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Biology, Chemistry or closely related field
• 2+ years of relevant experience
• Experience in the development of scientific instruments from a systems integration perspective is strongly preferred
• Basic understanding of molecular biology, genomics, and other standard life science lab workflows and equipment
• Familiarity with a scripting language such as Python
• Meticulous and detail oriented with a hands-on approach to work
• Ability to define and follow complex operating procedures
• Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills

At Ultima Genomics, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package.
