Description

About the role

The Claude Platform (API) is how developers and enterprises build with Claude, directly and through our cloud partners. It runs on a consumption model, and the economics move quickly. New models and capabilities launch often, the cost to serve keeps changing, and customer usage can scale fast. How we price and package the platform shapes both our revenue and how efficiently we turn compute into value for customers.

We're looking for a senior Finance & Strategy leader to own the financial strategy for the Claude Platform and to design the business models that come next. You'll sit on the Product Finance team and work closely with product, engineering, inference, and go-to-market leaders. You'll shape how we price and package the API, how we structure commitments and service tiers, and how we monetize new products and capabilities as they launch. You'll also work with infrastructure and inference teams so pricing reflects what it costs to serve and how capacity shapes what we sell.

This is a finance role that sits very close to product. You'll be part of product decisions as they're made, bringing the financial model, the tradeoffs, and a clear recommendation. You know consumption-based and infrastructure businesses well, and you're comfortable owning complex pricing decisions alongside senior leaders.

Key responsibilities

  • Own financial strategy for the Claude Platform (API), including pricing, packaging, discounting, and commercial terms across self-serve, enterprise, and cloud partner channels
  • Design and launch new business models for the platform and new products, such as capacity commitments, service tiers, and usage- or outcome-based pricing, from first framing through launch and post-launch review
  • Set pricing for new product features on the platform, working with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to balance adoption, capacity, and margin
  • Partner with infrastructure and inference teams to understand how cost to serve is changing, and turn efficiency gains and capacity constraints into pricing and product decisions
  • Work closely with product leaders on roadmap priorities, launch sequencing, and business cases for new bets, bringing the financial view into product decisions
  • Bring recommendations on pricing, investments, and tradeoffs to executive leadership, with the analysis to support them
  • Define the metrics that show whether pricing and new business models are working, and build the dashboards and reviews to track them
  • Work with FP&A, accounting, deal desk, and revenue operations so pricing changes are forecast, billed, and reported correctly
  • Mentor members of the Product Finance team and help shape how the team analyzes and communicates pricing decisions

Minimum qualifications

  • Experience in strategic finance, product finance, or a closely related field, including ownership of pricing or business model decisions
  • Hands-on experience with consumption-based or usage-based business models, including pricing, packaging, and forecasting for products where revenue scales with usage
  • Experience with infrastructure, cloud, or developer platform businesses, and a working understanding of how compute costs and capacity drive unit economics
  • A track record of designing and launching new pricing or business models, from analysis through go-to-market
  • Experience partnering closely with product teams and turning financial analysis into product and roadmap decisions
  • Advanced financial modeling skills in spreadsheets, and comfort pulling and analyzing your own data in SQL
  • Experience building the business case for major decisions and presenting recommendations to executive leadership
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining financial tradeoffs to product, engineering, and research audiences
  • Sound judgment when data is incomplete, and comfort making a call and revisiting it as you learn more
  • Interest in AI and a commitment to Anthropic's mission of building safe, beneficial AI systems

Preferred qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience across strategic finance, product finance, private equity, growth equity, venture capital, consulting, or investment banking
  • Experience pricing APIs, developer tools, or cloud infrastructure services such as compute, storage, or data platforms
  • Experience with enterprise commercial structures such as committed-spend agreements, volume discounts, reserved capacity, or tiered service levels
  • Experience selling through cloud marketplaces or partner channels, and managing the economics across first-party and third-party distribution
  • Familiarity with how large language models are served, including token-based pricing, inference cost drivers, and capacity planning
  • Experience monetizing a new product category without clear market benchmarks
  • Experience building a team, or leading and mentoring senior analysts
  • Background in AI, ML, or related technologies
