Description

NVIDIA is looking for an experienced Failure Analysis & Materials Engineer to join our Qualification Engineering team within the HW Systems organization. We support qualification, debugging, and root-cause investigations for some of NVIDIA’s most advanced hardware systems and technologies. We work across materials, components, PCBAs, and liquid cooling systems, using advanced analytical methods to understand complex failures and improve product reliability. This role combines hands-on failure analysis, materials characterization, and liquid cooling system qualification in a highly multidisciplinary environment. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, building strong technical conclusions, and helping us improve the way we analyze and qualify hardware. It’s an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact on NVIDIA product quality and reliability!

What you'll be doing:

  • The role focuses on leading complex failure analysis and root-cause investigations across electronic components, PCBAs, materials, liquid cooling components, and HW systems.

  • We use a wide range of analytical techniques, including FTIR, CSAM, CT/X-ray, SEM/EDS, optical microscopy, and cross-section analysis, and we expect this role to help us choose the right method for each investigation.

  • The position also supports liquid cooling system qualification and debugging, including failures related to brazing, welding, corrosion, material compatibility, and manufacturing processes. We partner closely with reliability, mechanical, thermal, product, manufacturing, component, and supplier engineering teams to turn analysis findings into clear technical actions and improvements.

What we need to see:

  • M.Sc. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Failure Analysis, Materials Characterization, HW debugging, or a related engineering field.

  • Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, failure mechanisms, and root-cause analysis.

  • Experience with multiple analytical techniques such as FTIR, CSAM, CT/X-ray, SEM/EDS, microscopy, or metallographic analysis.

  • Experience with liquid cooling systems, brazing, welding, corrosion, joining technologies, or material compatibility.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability. We provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities during the application process and employment.
