The Senior Deployment Engineer is a senior-level technical field engineering role responsible for leading the deployment, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and operational readiness of Armada’s modular data center infrastructure across North America and global customer environments.
This role serves as a key technical authority during deployment operations and is responsible for independently driving complex field execution activities across electrical, mechanical, controls/BAS, networking, and low-voltage infrastructure systems. The Senior Deployment Engineer exercises significant independent judgment in diagnosing infrastructure issues, coordinating technical resolution efforts, and ensuring operational reliability across mission-critical deployments.
This position requires a highly experienced infrastructure professional capable of making real-time technical decisions in dynamic field environments while partnering cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Deployment Leadership, Customer Operations, and external vendors.
Location. This role is remote with extensive travel.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Deployment & Field Leadership
- Lead installation, commissioning, startup, and validation activities for modular data center deployments across domestic and international environments
- Serve as the senior technical field resource during deployment execution and operational readiness activities
- Independently execute and oversee deployment plans, commissioning procedures, and infrastructure validation processes
- Conduct site assessments and provide technical leadership for field execution, issue resolution, and operational acceptance
- Drive deployment quality, operational consistency, and adherence to Armada engineering and safety standards
Technical Ownership & Troubleshooting
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts across electrical, mechanical, controls/BAS, networking, and monitoring systems
- Interpret and apply electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, control diagrams, and infrastructure documentation to resolve complex operational issues
- Make independent technical decisions during commissioning, startup, and live operational events
- Drive corrective action implementation and long-term reliability improvements based on field findings
- Escalate and coordinate resolution of critical infrastructure issues impacting deployment timelines or operational readiness
Operational Readiness & Infrastructure Validation
- Lead BMS, EPMS, and DCIM integration, validation, and operational readiness testing activities
- Define and execute infrastructure validation procedures to ensure systems meet performance, safety, and operational standards prior to customer turnover
- Support incident response, infrastructure recovery efforts, and operational continuity initiatives
- Provide technical oversight during system startup, monitoring validation, alarm testing, and infrastructure acceptance activities
Cross-Functional Technical Leadership
- Partner directly with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Deployment Leadership, and Customer Operations teams to drive successful deployment execution
- Coordinate technical activities with vendors, subcontractors, and field service partners
- Provide field-driven operational insights that influence infrastructure design, deployment methodologies, and product reliability improvements
- Act as a trusted technical advisor during deployment planning, execution, and operational review activities
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in mission-critical infrastructure, modular data centers, field engineering, or critical facilities operations
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and deployment activities within complex technical environments
- Deep technical expertise across critical infrastructure systems including:
- Electrical systems
- Mechanical/HVAC systems
- Controls/BAS systems
- Low-voltage systems
- Strong experience leading root cause analysis and technical problem resolution in live operational environments
- Experience exercising independent judgment and decision-making during infrastructure deployments and operational events
- Strong familiarity with BMS, EPMS, and/or DCIM platforms
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and control diagrams during field execution and troubleshooting
- Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-accountability deployment environments
Compensation
For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed below, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.
We use a geographic pay structure based on cost-of-labor markets.
- Tier 1 (e.g., SF Bay Area, NYC, Seattle): $157,600 – $197,000
- Tier 2 (most U.S. metro areas): $137,040 – $171,300
- Tier 3 (other cities): $130,190 – $162,740
Final compensation will be determined by experience, scope, and level, and may vary from the posted range.
In addition to base salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).
