Description

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to support the buildout and operation of SpaceXAI's high-performance data centers. In this hands-on role, you will provide mechanical general labor and field support that keeps construction and commissioning moving on our next-generation AI supercomputing infrastructure.

You will work closely with mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and operations teams to stage materials, assist installs, and maintain a safe, productive jobsite from construction through turnover. This is a full-time, onsite role with significant travel to SpaceXAI data center sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Stage, move, and inventory pipe, valves, hangers, insulation, tools, and equipment; keep laydown yards and mechanical rooms orderly.
  • Assist skilled trades with hanging strut, supports, lagging, insulation, bolt-up, and simple mechanical assembly under direction of a lead technician or journeyman.
  • Support equipment set for pumps, cooling towers, air handlers, and related mechanical gear, including cribbing, alignment assist, and housekeeping.
  •  Open and close work areas: protection, debris removal, scrap segregation, and end-of-shift reset so the next crew can start immediately.
  • Fetch tools and materials, run parts between warehouse and field, and keep consumables stocked.
  • Follow LOTO, PPE, and permit rules; do not work on live systems without authorization.
  • Report damaged material, unsafe conditions, and drawing conflicts immediately.
  •  Support punch-list work and cleanup through system turnover.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ year of construction, warehouse, manufacturing, or mechanical-helper experience, or equivalent military experience.
  • Willingness to work at heights, outdoors, and on a changing construction site.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, and material-handling equipment safely.
  • Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow site procedures.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, nights, and weekends during critical construction windows.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience on industrial, mechanical, or data center construction sites.
  • Familiarity with pallet jacks, basic rigging, and mechanical fasteners.
  • OSHA 10 or equivalent training.
  • Ability to read simple plans or spool sheets.
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel extensively to SpaceXAI construction sites and remain onsite during peak construction phases.
  • Capability to work in industrial environments, climb ladders, lift moderate loads, stand and walk for a full shift, and wear PPE for extended periods.
