Description

About the team:
The Fleet Operations Team drives uptime and operational performance across Formic’s growing fleet of deployed robotic systems. Working inside live manufacturing environments, the team diagnoses issues, restores production, and continuously improves system reliability at scale. Fleet Operations operates at the intersection of robotics, controls, and real-world factory execution, ensuring Formic’s automation delivers consistent, measurable performance across diverse industrial applications.

About the role:
As a Robotics Field Service Technician, you are a hands-on member of Formic’s Fleet Operations team. Working closely with Engineering and senior field staff, you will execute preventive maintenance, carry out directed corrective repairs, and represent Formic directly within customer facilities.
This is a hands-on, safety-focused role in uptime-critical environments. Success requires disciplined execution of established procedures, calm work during production interruptions, and clear documentation. Your work directly supports fleet performance, customer satisfaction, and long-term system reliability.

In this role you will:

  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells following established checklists and procedures
  • Perform directed corrective maintenance and repairs as assigned by engineering, dispatch, or senior technicians
  • Respond to on-site service calls, follow structured troubleshooting steps, and escalate complex or unresolved issues to engineering
  • Provide hands-on technical support to customer operators and maintenance teams
  • Log service activity, asset updates, and spare part requirements in CMMS systems
  • Follow assigned field schedules and coordinate day-to-day logistics with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Monitor system performance using Formic dashboards and fleet tools, and report anomalies to engineering
  • Document service work and follow-up actions with clarity and precision
  • Flag recurring issues or failure patterns to engineering for further investigation
  • Build professional, trusted relationships with plant managers and site personnel
  • Operate with strict adherence to safety standards, including LOTO and industrial compliance
  • Support RCA sessions, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives as directed
  • Continuously build technical skills across robotics, controls, networking, and industrial systems

What makes you a great fit:

  • 2+ years of hands-on field service or maintenance experience supporting robotic or industrial automation systems
  • Solid troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, PLC, or robotic control systems
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings
  • Experience using CMMS platforms to track and report maintenance activity
  • Comfortable with local travel up to 80% and overnight travel up to 50%
  • Clear written and verbal communicator capable of producing structured service documentation
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and disciplined, checklist-driven field execution
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and reliably complete directed tasks with minimal oversight

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience working hands-on with 6-axis robot brands such as Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, ABB, or Universal Robots (e.g. maintenance, troubleshooting, basic programming)
  • Familiarity with palletizing, case packing, pick-and-place, or conveyor systems
  • Experience in food, beverage, packaging, CPG, or other high-speed manufacturing environments
  • Prior customer-facing field experience
  • Spanish language proficiency
