About the Role
We are seeking a highly reliable and detail-oriented Facilities Coordinator to support shipping and receiving, facilities operations, and lab infrastructure. This role is critical to maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-functioning environment for research teams. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly observant, and comfortable working across facilities, lab operations, and vendor coordination in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient laboratory environment
- Conduct regular facility walkthroughs and coordinate equipment relocations
- Manage the onboarding setup and decommissioning of laboratory workstations
- Oversee cell line inventory tracking and capacity management within Benchling
- Manage and document routine mycoplasma testing protocols
- Collaborate with Unity Lab Services (ULS) to manage inventory levels and mitigate supply chain disruptions
- Establish new inventory stocking locations aligned with operational requirements
- Direct Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance
- Partner with scientific staff to identify and remediate safety hazards
- Manage the lifecycle and disposal of hazardous waste
- Maintain comprehensive facility readiness by ensuring continuous safety, regulatory compliance, and audit preparedness
- Liaise with the scientific team to optimize operational protocols and workflows
- Engage proactively with researchers to address and resolve challenges related to services, instrumentation, and consumables
- Propose strategic recommendations for site enhancements and increased operational efficiency
- Provide cross-functional coverage for team members across key operations, including facilities logistics, shipping, receiving, gases, and equipment maintenance
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in facilities coordination, lab operations, or a related role.
- Prior experience in a lab-based environment is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, including international logistics.
- Working knowledge of lab infrastructure (e.g., gases, vacuum, cold storage) preferred.
- Experience with EH&S practices and basic operational systems/tools is a plus.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as climbing, crouching, and lifting.
- Regular use of equipment requiring PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
Compensation:
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months
The base pay range for this position is expected to be $43-$64 hourly; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the market, job-related knowledge, skills and capabilities, and experience.
