Description

About Overwatch Mission Critical
Overwatch is a service-disabled Veteran-owned small business (SDVOB) certified through the national veterans business development council (NVBDC), offering construction professional services, talent acquisition, and general contractor for the mission-critical infrastructure industry. Our mission is the construction and management of state-of-the-art data centers with the precision and reliability this industry demands. From high-end engineers to seasoned professionals, we deploy the people you need to get your data center off the ground. At Overwatch, it's more than a job. It's purpose.

Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced MEP Manager to serve as the owner's technical expert for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on a new, large-scale data center project. This individual will embed on-site alongside the General Construction Manager and serve as the primary owner's representative for the full MEP scope — from pre-construction coordination through installation, testing, commissioning, and acceptance.

The successful candidate will bring deep technical knowledge of mission-critical MEP systems including UPS, switchgear, generators, cooling plant, and low-voltage infrastructure, and will be able to hold GC, MEP subcontractors, and equipment vendors accountable to the owner's standards and schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the owner's on-site representative for all MEP scopes: electrical (medium/low voltage, switchgear, UPS, generators), mechanical (CRAC/CRAH, chilled water, cooling towers), and plumbing (domestic, process, fire suppression)
  • Attend and lead MEP coordination meetings, including BIM clash detection reviews and subcontractor prefabrication planning sessions
  • Review MEP submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs for technical accuracy and compliance with project specifications
  • Monitor MEP installation sequencing, quality, and code compliance across all active fronts
  • Coordinate integration of MEP systems with IT/low-voltage infrastructure, raised floor layouts, and structural elements
  • Oversee startup and pre-commissioning activities; work closely with the commissioning authority (CxA) and owner's CX team
  • Track and drive resolution of MEP-specific open items, punch list deficiencies, and NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports)
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) for major equipment as required
  • Provide daily and weekly MEP progress summaries to the General Construction Manager and owner-side program team
  • Assist in reviewing change proposals related to MEP scope for technical validity and owner impact

Qualifications
Required
  • 10+ years of MEP construction or commissioning experience, with at least 4 years in data center or mission-critical environments
  • Deep technical knowledge of critical power systems (switchgear, UPS, PDU, generators) and cooling infrastructure (chillers, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH)
  • Experience with MEP BIM coordination (Revit MEP, Navisworks) and 3D clash resolution workflows
  • Ability to read and interpret complex MEP drawings, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment submittals
  • Procore experience required; Bluebeam Revu proficiency required
  • OSHA 30 certification required

Preferred
  • RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) or equivalent credential
  • PE license (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent field experience
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE TC 9.9 guidelines, BICSI standards, or Uptime Institute Tier requirements
  • Experience with commissioning documentation (Cx plans, test procedures, system verification reports)

Character and Conduct
What We Value Most: Character and Conduct
Technical skills can be taught. Character cannot. We are looking for people who show up with integrity, treat others with respect, and take genuine ownership of their work. The following traits matter as much to us as any credential or years of experience:
  • Integrity — does the right thing even when no one is watching; never misrepresents status, costs, or progress to protect themselves.
  • Ownership mentality — treats the project as their own and holds themselves accountable without being told.
  • Respectful under pressure — stays composed and professional with contractors, trades, and owner staff regardless of the circumstances.
  • Transparent communicator — surfaces problems early and honestly, never buries bad news.
  • Team-first attitude — ego stays at the gate; the project and the people on it come first.
  • Reliable and consistent — shows up prepared, follows through on commitments, and does what they say they will do.
We actively seek references that speak to a candidate's character, not just their technical output.

Tools and Software
  • Procore – MEP submittals, RFIs, issue tracking, and commissioning logs.
  • Bluebeam Revu – MEP drawing markup and redline coordination.
  • Navisworks / Revit MEP – clash detection and BIM coordination.
  • Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook required.

Work Environment and Schedule
  • Full-time, on-site presence required Monday through Friday; weekend availability during system energization and commissioning milestones.
  • Active construction and energized equipment environments — strict adherence to electrical safety protocols and site PPE required.
  • Travel to vendor FAT locations may be required.
  • Assignment duration approximately 12 months; extensions common based on project phasing and owner needs.

Driver’s License Requirement:
For roles that require on-site presence or travel between work locations as an essential function of the position, candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license appropriate for the role and be eligible to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with applicable laws.

Communication Skills:
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a professional work environment, including preparing written reports and documentation, conveying information clearly to team members, clients, and stakeholders, and responding appropriately to verbal and written communications related to job duties.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an active data center construction environment, encompassing both indoor and outdoor work settings. The role requires the physical ability to perform essential job functions safely and effectively in a dynamic environment that includes ongoing construction activity and evolving site conditions.
The work environment includes areas and temporary structures owned, leased, or controlled by third parties over which Overwatch may have limited or no control. Because the project remains under construction, certain areas of the site — including access routes, staging zones, and temporary structures — may not yet be fully ADA-compliant until construction is complete or those third-party areas are finalized.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.

Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in and around active construction areas, which may include unfinished buildings, temporary field offices, staging areas, and partially completed infrastructure. These locations may contain uneven surfaces, limited accessibility, and other conditions typical of construction projects prior to final completion. Overwatch does not control and cannot modify accessibility conditions within areas, facilities, or temporary structures owned or managed by third parties.

Reasonable Accommodation:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position, provided such accommodations do not create safety hazards, impede essential mobility within active work zones, or require modification of facilities not owned or controlled by Overwatch.

Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid time off. Relocation assistance is available to support candidates transitioning to the location.

OVERWATCH is committed to creating a diverse work environment and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. OVERWATCH considers candidates regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.
