Description

The Opportunity at Komodo Health

We are looking for a strategic, hands-on Director of Procurement to build and own our procurement function. This is an individual contributor role. You will report directly to the VP of FP&A and serve as the primary owner of Zip, our procurement platform. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-autonomy environment, brings deep subject matter expertise, and can partner cross-functionally to drive spend discipline and vendor excellence.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have accomplished…

  • Zip administration responsibilities are transferred, adoption is high, and procurement workflows are running efficiently across the organization.
  • A formal procurement policy is in place and broadly understood.
  • You have completed sourcing events for the top spend categories and delivered quantifiable savings.
  • Finance and business stakeholders view Procurement as a strategic partner, not a bottleneck.
  • Procurement reporting is a regular input into FP&A reviews and planning cycles.

You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities…

Procurement Operations

  • Own the end-to-end procurement process, from intake and sourcing through contract execution and supplier onboarding.
  • Serve as the system administrator for Zip, configuring workflows, managing user access, maintaining integrations, and driving adoption across the organization.
  • Develop and enforce procurement policies, approval frameworks, and spend controls.
  • Manage the purchase order process and ensure compliance with company purchasing thresholds.

Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management

  • Lead competitive sourcing events (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs) for key categories of spend.
  • Negotiate contracts and commercial terms with vendors to maximize value and minimize risk.
  • Build and maintain a vendor management program, including performance reviews and relationship governance.
  • Identify and execute cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities across indirect and direct spend categories.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Reporting

  • Partner closely with Finance, Legal, IT, and business stakeholders to align procurement activities with company priorities.
  • Provide regular reporting on procurement KPIs, savings tracking, and pipeline to the VP of FP&A.
  • Support budget processes by providing spend visibility, vendor benchmarking, and category insights.
  • Collaborate with Legal on contract review and risk mitigation for vendor agreements.

What you bring to Komodo Health (required):

  • 8-10+ years of procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain experience, preferably in a high-growth technology or SaaS environment.
  • Demonstrated experience as a procurement system administrator or power user (Zip, Coupa, Zip, Ariba, or equivalent).
  • Strong contract negotiation skills with a track record of delivering measurable savings.
  • Experience operating as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills and comfort working with spend data to generate insights.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Additional skills and experience we’d prioritize (nice to have)…

  • Prior experience as a Zip administrator specifically, including workflow configuration and integration management.
  • Familiarity with SaaS vendor contracts, DPAs, and MSA structures.
  • Exposure to FP&A processes and comfort working within a Finance-led function.

Expectations of AI Use in this role (required):

Judgement & Creativity:

  1. Applies AI strategically, knowing how to use the right tools at the right time to solve problems or generate new ideas.
  2. Uses AI to accelerate feedback loops, test ideas, and make informed decisions faster.
  3. Applies both judgment and creativity when working with AI and understands its limitations.

Curiosity & Initiative:

  1. Demonstrates curiosity and initiative in exploring new AI tools and workflows relevant to their role.
  2. Has developed or shared AI-enhanced workflows, automations, or prompts with others.
