About the Role
A fast-growing, Y Combinator–backed enterprise AI SaaS startup is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer based in Munich to embed with its largest DACH customers and help them become AI-native. You'll work alongside a senior Enterprise AI Transformation Lead to scope, build, and ship production-grade agents and integrations that deliver measurable customer value — and directly shape the product roadmap in the process.
This is a high-ownership, high-impact role for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of deep technical work and direct customer partnership. Significant travel across the DACH region is expected.
What You'll Do
Serve as the on-the-ground engineer at major DACH enterprise accounts, acting as a technical peer to customer CTOs and platform teams.
Embed on-site with customers, leading workshops, hackathons, and implementation sprints.
Scope, build, integrate, debug, and teach customers to adopt production agents and automated workflows end-to-end.
Ship high-leverage use cases: complex agents, custom integrations, MCP servers, and multi-step workflows.
Leave behind systems that customer teams can own and operate independently.
When platform limits arise, collaborate directly with the internal engineering team — and often write the fixes yourself.
Push the product forward by identifying blockers and implementing customer-driven improvements.
Automate your own work by building agents that eliminate manual, repetitive tasks.
What We're Looking For
Must-haves (dealbreakers):
3+ years of enterprise software engineering experience delivering production-grade AI agentic workflows for enterprise customers.
Proven track record shipping agentic AI systems, tool-use loops, and LLM-powered features that operate reliably under load.
Native-level German proficiency.
Based in Munich or willing to relocate, with the ability to travel across DACH.
Required:
Experience shipping a product or feature from scratch in a professional setting.
Strong full-stack engineering skills — comfortable scoping and delivering end-to-end solutions, including integrations with external enterprise systems and multi-step workflows.
Hands-on experience embedding with large DACH enterprise customers: running workshops, hackathons, and implementation sprints; able to scope a complex use case live in a customer meeting and deliver end-to-end.
Experience building custom integrations with enterprise systems and MCP servers for agent deployment.
Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have:
Go programming language experience.
Founder or early-employee startup experience.
Experience with AI-assisted development tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) for building agents.
Traits we value: High agency, high energy, strong ownership, sharp communication, low ego, and a bias toward fast pragmatic solutions over over-engineered ones.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $80,000 – $150,000 USD annually (or local equivalent)
Early-stage equity opportunity at a well-funded, high-growth startup
No visa sponsorship available — candidates must have the right to work in Germany
