Description

About the Role

As a Field Robotics Software & Communications Engineer (m/f/d), you are the crucial link between our advanced robotics and the real world. You will be the on-site software and communications expert during military exercises, customer demonstrations, and complex integration projects, ensuring our autonomous systems perform flawlessly under the most demanding conditions.

This role is for a hands-on problem-solver who thrives at the intersection of software, networking, and hardware. You will configure controllers, master tactical communication links, and troubleshoot complex systems directly in the field. Your work ensures our platforms stay connected, intelligent, and mission-ready when it matters most.

What You’ll Build

  • Deploy, configure, and validate our robotic platforms at customer sites and during live field exercises.
  • Master our diverse communication stack, from tactical radios and satellite terminals to secure LTE/5G networks.
  • Configure mission software and control interfaces to ensure stable and reliable field operations.
  • Integrate cutting-edge sensors, payloads, and third-party systems using modern APIs and SDKs.
  • Become the go-to expert for diagnosing and resolving complex software and networking issues under operational pressure.
  • Empower end-users by providing expert on-site training, scenario support, and technical assistance.
  • Translate field learnings into actionable feedback for our engineering teams, directly shaping the future of our products.

What You Bring

  • A strong technical background in computer science, robotics, or engineering, gained through a degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Deep knowledge of software and communication systems, ideally applied to robotics or unmanned platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with embedded Linux, networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, routing), and scripting (C++/Python).
  • Practical experience with advanced communication hardware, such as tactical radios, LTE/5G modems, or satellite systems.
  • The ability to troubleshoot complex, system-level issues that span software, communications, and hardware.
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset and a genuine passion for solving operational problems in the field.
  • Clear communication skills in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to support missions across Germany and the EU - ideally based in or around Munich.

 Nice To Have

  • Experience with defense communication systems or mesh networking (MANET).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for communication and unmanned systems.
  • Familiarity with deploying software updates in mobile or field environments.
  • An understanding of ruggedized hardware and outdoor operational constraints

Please note: You do not need to meet every single requirement to apply. We welcome motivated candidates who are eager to grow into the role and develop their expertise further.
