About the Role
Join a fast-growing consumer fintech company building financial products that help everyday people optimize taxes, bridge paychecks, and build credit — all in one app. As a Product Engineer, you'll work end-to-end across the stack, collaborating closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to ship high-impact features for a growing base of paying users who depend on the platform for their financial wellbeing.
This is a hands-on, ownership-heavy role best suited for engineers who thrive in fast-moving startup environments and care deeply about the real-world impact of their work on consumers.
What You'll Do
Build product features end-to-end: domain models, business logic, and API integrations that make the product just work for customers.
Drive deployment and iteration using a dynamic, data-driven approach — shipping well-engineered, incremental releases toward bold product milestones.
Leverage robust data pipelines and analytics infrastructure; regularly use SQL and analysis tools to evaluate product and system performance.
Debug complex state machines in an event-driven backend that makes heavy use of pub/sub, ensuring a seamless experience for all users.
Ship to production daily through a rapid CI/CD process, owning implementations end-to-end and responding to production incidents as needed.
What We're Looking For
Must-haves (dealbreakers):
Hands-on experience with Go (Golang) deployed on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Direct consumer product experience — you've built products for end-consumers, not exclusively B2B.
Required skills & experience:
Proficiency in designing and consuming RESTful APIs, including authentication/authorization patterns and rate limiting.
Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL), including data modeling and query optimization.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, automated testing, and code review processes.
Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub) for scalable data pipelines.
Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Startup background preferred; open to candidates from Big Tech who are genuinely excited about the startup environment.
Strong computer science fundamentals.
Nice to have:
2–9 years of relevant software engineering experience.
Background in fintech, payments, or financial services.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $120,000 – $200,000 USD annually, depending on experience.
Visa sponsorship is available.
Location
On-site in San Francisco, CA (primary). Candidates in Seattle, WA may also be considered.
This is not a remote role.
