Description

About the Role

We're a fast-growing consumer fintech startup building financial products that help everyday people access cash, build credit, spend smarter, and file taxes — all in one app. Our mission is to provide a genuine alternative to predatory banking fees and give users real financial tools that work for them.

We're looking for a Senior Mobile Software Engineer (Android-focused) to join our product-focused engineering team in San Francisco. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to craft high-quality, delightful consumer experiences and help scale our core mobile app. This role carries meaningful impact on both company progress and user happiness.

What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain our core Android application

  • Contribute to platform-level engineering and help build shared mobile infrastructure

  • Pragmatically solve complex technical and product problems

  • Contribute to product design decisions and overall product direction

  • Collaborate effectively with product, engineering, and business stakeholders across the organization

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers on the mobile team

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in mobile engineering

  • Strong Kotlin expertise for Android development, including Jetpack Compose and modern app architecture (MVVM / Clean Architecture)

  • Proven experience building and shipping consumer-facing mobile apps (not exclusively B2B)

  • Experience integrating Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore/Realtime Database, Cloud Messaging)

  • Familiarity with backend data formats and APIs common in mobile apps: protobufs, REST, and gRPC

  • Proficiency with Android testing strategies (unit and instrumentation/UI tests) and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile

  • Strong communication skills and a track record of cross-functional collaboration

Nice to Have:

  • Mentorship or technical leadership experience guiding junior mobile engineers

  • Familiarity with Dagger Hilt for dependency injection

  • Exposure to GCP, Go, BigQuery, or MySQL in a mobile backend context

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $160,000 – $200,000 USD annually, depending on experience

  • Visa sponsorship is available

Location

This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Francisco, CA. Candidates should be prepared to work from the office.
