About the Role
Join an early-stage B2B SaaS team as its first infrastructure hire, owning the runtime, agent infrastructure, observability, and self-hostable deployment platform. You will work closely with the founders, establish foundational engineering practices, and help grow the infrastructure team.
What You'll Do
Build and operate a cloud runtime with durable execution, sandboxed isolation, and self-healing capabilities.
Develop infrastructure for coding agents that write, test, and deploy integration code in production.
Design observability across integrations and agents, including logs, metrics, and tracing.
Deliver a single-tenant, self-hostable product deployment and own the infrastructure platform end to end.
Set engineering patterns for future infrastructure hires, ship production improvements regularly, and help hire and lead the team as it grows.
What We're Looking For
Three to nine years of professional software engineering experience, including at least three years in fast-moving, ambiguous startup environments.
Hands-on experience operating, scaling, and debugging Kubernetes in production, with end-to-end ownership of cloud infrastructure or a platform.
Practical cloud infrastructure experience, production observability expertise across logs, metrics, and tracing, and familiarity with Kubernetes, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS, and Docker.
Experience using AI coding agents effectively while applying sound production engineering judgment.
A completed or in-progress degree in engineering, computer science, or a quantitative field from a strong technical university.
Experience as a funded startup founder or as an engineer at an early-stage, well-backed startup; experience with self-hosted, single-tenant deployments is valuable.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and available to work on-site five days a week, or US-based with a concrete relocation plan to San Francisco.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary is $175,000 to $300,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available, including O-1 sponsorship where appropriate.
Location
On-site in San Francisco, California, five days per week.
