About

KULN Global Virtual Hackathon 2026

Empowering Malaysian Student Innovators in Korea

The KULN Global Virtual Hackathon 2026 is a 100% virtual innovation competition organised by Kelab UMNO Korea (KULN Korea) for Malaysian undergraduate students currently studying in Korea.

This hackathon brings together students from technical and non-technical backgrounds to solve a real-world industry challenge, build a working solution, and present their ideas to industry professionals.

Participants will work in teams of 3–4 members during the hacking period, with opportunities to receive guidance from industry mentors and connect with professionals from our partner organisations.

The hackathon is supported by TechTamu, EzyEvents, and RunCloud.

What makes it special?

This is more than a coding competition. We encourage multidisciplinary teams combining technology, business, design, data, and creative problem-solving.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Work on a real-world industry challenge

  • Build and deploy a functional web application

  • Receive mentorship and industry feedback

  • Connect with professionals and fellow Malaysian students in Korea

  • Develop a project that can become part of your portfolio

  • Present your solution to an industry judging panel

About the Challenge

The official problem statement will be revealed during the Hackathon Opening Ceremony on 14 November 2026.

The hackathon is provisionally expected to explore the theme of ESG Automation — “Data to Action”, looking at how technology, data, AI, and automation can help organisations better collect, understand, manage, and act on ESG-related information.

Potential areas may include ESG data management, data analysis, automated reporting, AI-powered workflows, actionable recommendations, and integration with existing business systems.

The final challenge, requirements, and evaluation expectations will be announced at the opening ceremony.

Get Started
  1. Register for the hackathon before 31 October 2026.

  2. Form a team of 3–4 eligible members.

  3. Join the official Discord server after registration.

  4. Attend the pre-event briefing and opening ceremony.

  5. Review the official problem statement and start building.

  6. Submit your project on Devpost by 22 November 2026.

Build boldly. Pitch confidently.

Requirements

What to Build

Your team must build a functional, deployed web application that addresses the official hackathon problem statement revealed during the Opening Ceremony.

Your solution should:

  • Address the official challenge and its requirements

  • Provide a clear and practical solution to the identified problem

  • Include a functional web application that judges can access and test

  • Demonstrate the key features and user experience of your solution

  • Use technology, data, AI, automation, or other appropriate tools where relevant to your solution

The technology stack is open. You may use any programming language, framework, database, API, or development tools that your team is comfortable with.

AI-assisted development tools such as ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot are allowed. However, the core idea, solution design, and implementation decisions must come from your team.

Important

Your application must be deployed and publicly accessible through a working URL at the time of judging.

The official problem statement, specific requirements, and challenge scope will be announced during the Hackathon Opening Ceremony.

What to Submit

Submit your project through the KULN Global Virtual Hackathon 2026 Devpost page before the submission deadline.

Your Devpost submission must include:

1. Deployed Web Application — Mandatory

Provide a public URL to your working web application.

Judges must be able to access and test your application. Make sure the link is live and functional throughout the judging period.

2. 3-Minute Pitch Video — Mandatory

Submit a video of maximum 3 minutes explaining your project.

Your pitch should cover:

  • The problem you are solving

  • Your proposed solution

  • How your product works

  • A short demonstration of the application

  • Your team introduction

You may upload the video directly or provide a YouTube/Vimeo link.

3. Project Description — Mandatory

Your Devpost project page should clearly explain:

  • The problem statement you addressed

  • Your solution and how it works

  • Key features

  • Technology stack

  • Target users or use case

  • Expected impact or value

4. GitHub / Source Code Link — Recommended

Provide a link to your project's source code repository.

A public GitHub repository is strongly recommended so judges can better understand your implementation.
