About

About the CLIMATECHAIN

Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges facing our planet today.Governments, corporations, and communities are actively seeking innovative technologies that can improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in climate action.

The ClimateChain Global Hackathon 2026 invites innovators, developers, researchers, and climate enthusiasts from around the world to build solutions that leverage blockchain technology and AI to address real-world climate challenges.

This hackathon aims to leverage blockchain and AI technology to address critical climatechain challenges and support the goals of UN COP 31. By exploring the interconnection between climate data transparency, carbon markets, and sustainable resource management, participants will identify innovative solutions that enhance environmental accountability through AI and blockchain-enabled tools.

Participants will design and prototype solutions that improve carbon markets, renewable energy systems, sustainable supply chains, and climate data transparency. By combining blockchain, AI, IoT, and climate science, teams will create systems that empower organizations, policymakers, and communities to make data-driven decisions and take timely, effective action to reduce emissions and promote sustainability.

This global initiative seeks to accelerate the development of trustworthy, decentralized, and scalable climate solutions aligned with international sustainability frameworks and global climate goals.

Finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations to global leaders, industry experts, and climate organizations—helping transform ideas into real-world climate impact.

Requirements

What to Build

Build solutions that address real-world climate challenges using blockchain, AI, and data-driven approaches, aligned with ClimateChain tracks. Your project should belong to one of the defined tracks.

🎯 Track 🚩 Challenge 🧩 Problem 🔧 Build Carbon Markets & Emissions Transparency Improve trust, transparency, and efficiency in carbon markets Lack of transparency, double counting, and complex verification reduce credibility • Blockchain-based carbon credit verification
• Real-time emissions tracking
• Smart contracts to prevent double counting
• Transparent carbon trading platforms Renewable Energy & Energy Trading Enable decentralized and efficient energy systems Energy markets remain centralized and inefficient despite renewable growth • Peer-to-peer energy trading
• Renewable certificate tracking
• Microgrid coordination systems
• Tokenized incentives for clean energy Sustainable Supply Chains Increase transparency and accountability in supply chains Difficult to verify ethical sourcing and sustainability claims • Product lifecycle tracking
• Digital product passports
• Recycling traceability systems
• Circular economy incentive platforms Climate Data & Environmental Monitoring Enable reliable and accessible climate data systems Environmental data is fragmented and difficult to verify • Climate data verification platforms
• IoT environmental monitoring
• Climate data marketplaces
• Tools for research and insights

What to Submit
