About

The Black CS Success Summit Hackathon brings students together to build technology-driven solutions around real challenges affecting Black communities.

For 2026, the hackathon will explore the intersection of quantum computing, community impact, and the future of technology in Chicago. As major investments in quantum infrastructure take shape on Chicago’s South Side, participants will be challenged to think critically about how emerging technologies can create value for the communities closest to that development.

Teams will identify a meaningful community problem, use data and technology to explore possible solutions, and consider where quantum or quantum-inspired approaches may offer new ways to think about complex challenges involving health, transportation, food access, environmental justice, housing, resource allocation, and other areas of community need.

Participants do not need prior quantum computing experience. The hackathon will include learning resources, technical guidance, mentors, and starter materials to support both beginners and more experienced builders.

More details on the 2026 challenge, schedule, judging criteria, prizes, and technical resources will be announced soon.
