About
Innovation shouldn’t depend on location.
Hack the Gap is a hackathon built to expand access to technology, innovation, and opportunity across California.
While much of California’s tech ecosystem has grown around established hubs, talented students and builders exist in every community. Our goal is simple: create a space where participants can build meaningful projects, connect with peers, explore emerging technologies, and demonstrate that innovation can come from anywhere.
Whether you're an experienced developer, first-time hacker, designer, builder, researcher, or entrepreneur, this event is designed to lower barriers to entry and encourage collaboration.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
• Build a project that creates impact
• Collaborate with students from different backgrounds
• Attend workshops and mentorship sessions
• Present ideas to judges and the community
• Compete for prizes and recognition
Themes may include:
• Education & accessibility
• AI & emerging technologies
• Community impact
• Sustainability
• Health & wellness
• Open innovation
Talent exists everywhere. Let’s build like it.
