About

vsHacks is a beginner-friendly hackathon open to all high school students in the Greater Vancouver area. It's an excellent opportunity for participants to show off their skills, learn new skills, and meet like-minded individuals. From July 11-12, teams of 1 to 4 people will collaborate to build and present a project from scratch. Throughout the event, the vsHacks team will host workshops and fun events such as party games in the Discord server.

GET STARTED

To get started, register for this hackathon and join our Discord. Many important announcements will be made in Discord.

Additional information can be found on our website.

Requirements

WHAT TO BUILD

As this hackathon is very beginner-friendly and open-ended, there are no particular restrictions on what projects can be submitted. However, this year's theme is TBD (to be announced on the day of the event), and projects relating to it will be eligible for a special prize!

WHAT TO SUBMIT

  • Provide an easy way to access your project for judging and testing (e.g., a public website or GitHub repository). Code must be open source.
  • A Video (posted on Youtube or Google Drive), this should include all information that is important to your project, as this will be account for the majority of your score. MAX 5 minutes.
    • Please explain your code in your video! (doesn't have to go line by line, just need a structural and intuitive explanation)
  • Your code (can be submitted as GitHub link, or uploaded as a .ZIP file)
  • A brief paragraph describing your project (capabilities and background)
  • A brief paragraph on your challenges and successes
