Description

We're the video team within Brand Foundations at Plaid, responsible for motion and video across the company, from brand films and event content to product storytelling and web animation. We work across agency partnerships, in-house production, and live experiential moments, making sure everything that moves feels unmistakably Plaid. We collaborate closely with brand, marketing, product, and experiential teams to bring high-craft motion work to life across every channel.

In this role, you'll create motion work across a broad mix of brand and campaign animation, product and web motion, and event content. You'll work from Plaid's established motion guidelines and design system, animating everything from expressive brand moments to precise UI and web interactions. You'll collaborate with our motion designer, video producer, and internal design partners to keep quality high and production moving.

Responsibilities

  • Design and animate motion work across brand campaigns, product storytelling, web interactions, and event content.
  • Deliver web-ready animation in formats like Lottie and Rive, collaborating with web and design teams on implementation.
  • Work within Plaid's motion guidelines (timing, easing, and text animation standards) to keep motion consistent across deliverables.
  • Prep and deliver assets across specs and platforms, from social cutdowns to large-format event screens.
  • Collaborate with designers, producers, and stakeholders to scope work, incorporate feedback, and hit deadlines across concurrent projects.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of motion design experience with a strong reel showing range across brand, product, and web animation.
  • Expert in After Effects, with experience delivering web animation via Lottie, Rive, or similar formats.
  • Strong fundamentals in typography, composition, and timing. You can animate type with precision and restraint.
  • Comfortable working within an established motion system while bringing craft and ideas of your own.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent communication skills, responsive and organized in remote, async collaboration (US hours).
  • Familiarity with review and file management workflows (Frame.io or similar).
  • Experience or curiosity with AI-assisted motion and production workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Cinema 4D or other 3D experience, or hands-on work with design systems in Figma.
