Description

At Etsy, we're building a future that reimagines commerce in ways that are more personal, meaningful, and community-driven. Our marketplace connects millions of buyers with independent sellers around the world, helping people discover extraordinary items they can't find anywhere else.

As a Merchandising Coordinator on our Merchandising team, you'll bring your eye for great design and editorial instinct to work that directly shapes the discovery experiences reaching millions of buyers every day — supporting the people, processes, and systems that make Etsy's marketplace come to life.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role at the center of how Etsy blends human expertise with scaled, AI-powered discovery. Your primary focus will be building high-quality curated collections — sets of inventory that serve as training and feedback input for machine learning models, helping them better reflect what great looks like on Etsy.

You'll apply a critical eye for design, product quality, and editorial consistency to maintain the high merchandising standards that define the Etsy experience. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, comfortable with structured feedback workflows, and excited by the idea that human taste can make technology more powerful.

Working within clear strategic direction set by Senior Category Leads, you'll execute curation work with care and precision, communicate proactively, and grow your understanding of how merchandising, data, and machine learning come together at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Execute Curation for Scaled Discovery: Build and maintain high-quality curated collections that serve as training and feedback input for ML models powering buyer discovery and personalization.
  • Review, rate, and refine inventory and Machine Learning Models to improve cohesion, relevance, thematic clarity, and overall quality — providing structured qualitative signals that help our systems improve.
  • Support Merchandising Strategy: Execute on strategic direction and priorities set by Senior Merchandising Leads, translating guidance into clear, well-organized curation deliverables.
  • Identify inventory gaps, quality issues, or notable trends and surface those observations to merchandising team leads.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with Senior Merchandising Leads and cross-functional partners to understand curation needs, timelines, and pipeline requirements — and communicate proactively on the status of deliverables.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Manage assigned curation workstreams against established timelines, volume targets, and quality standards, adapting as tools and workflows evolve.

About You

  • 0–2 years of experience in merchandising, ecommerce, retail, curation, content programming, or a related field — or equivalent exposure through academic or personal projects.
  • A strong eye for design, product quality, and visual storytelling; you can recognize what makes an item or collection compelling.
  • Eager to learn and comfortable acting on guidance; you ask good questions, seek to understand the why, and improve with feedback.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage structured, repetitive workflows accurately and at volume.
  • Curious about machine learning and genuinely excited by the idea that human taste can make AI better — no technical background required.
  • A clear communicator who proactively shares updates, flags risks, and asks for help when needed.
  • A collaborative team player who listens with intent and is inclusive in how you work with others.
  • Passionate about Etsy's mission and the power of human creativity and entrepreneurial commerce.
