Description

The Role

This is a role for a storyteller, strategic design leader, and workflow pioneer. Someone who thrives at the intersection of concept and craft, able to shape bold ideas and translate them into intuitive, human-centered experiences.

Our design practice is being reinvented in real time: AI tools like Claude, Lovable, and a fast-growing set of agentic design and coding tools have changed how we explore, prototype, and ship in just the last six months — and the ground is still moving.

At DB Studio / Devblock, our Designers anchor themselves in design thinking while experimenting openly with new tools, helping us discover the workflow that fits this new paradigm.

This is a 100% hands-on role.

Description

We’re seeking a Product Designer to champion cutting-edge user experiences from concept to execution — and to help us define how design gets done in an AI-native studio.

You’ll work hands-on and strategically, grounding every project in design thinking (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test) while experimenting with the latest AI design and coding tools to compress the distance between idea and working prototype.

We haven’t settled on a single workflow yet, and that’s deliberate: you’ll run structured experiments, compare approaches, and help the team decide what our new standard practice becomes.

You bring a sharp sense of design, a systems-level mindset, and genuine curiosity about tools that didn’t exist six months ago.

From early exploration to polished execution, you’ll inspire and challenge a multidisciplinary team, partnering with product, engineering, research, and marketing to shape experiences that are elegant, scalable, and purposeful.

Responsibilities

  • Design Thinking First: Never open Figma or an AI tool before understanding the problem. Empathy work, discovery intake, and problem framing always come before generation — AI accelerates the process, it doesn’t replace it.
  • Ownership: Lead design efforts from concept through execution, shaping elegant, scalable, and human-centered experiences.
  • AI for Exploration, Craft for Delivery: Use AI tools (Claude, Lovable, and whatever emerges next) for rapid ideation, divergent exploration, and live prototypes. Apply Figma and hand-craft where pixel-perfect, component-based, or client-ready precision is needed — and help us test where that line should actually sit.
  • Invent and deliver flow charts, personas, journey maps, sitemaps, etc.
  • Ensure every design choice links back to a validated user need, pain point, or business goal.
  • Generate bold ideas and translate them into patterns, prototypes, and interactions that define the future of our clients’ products and Devblock’s design practice.
  • Partner with clients, product, engineering, and marketing to align vision, resolve ambiguity, and deliver cohesive solutions.
  • Communicate design intent through storytelling, clear rationale, and compelling prototypes.
  • Run Workflow Experiments: Pilot new AI tools and techniques against real project work, document what worked and what didn’t, and share findings with the team — you are a co-author of the workflow we ultimately adopt.
  • Prototype across the full spectrum: sketches, Figma wireframes, AI-generated concepts, and vibe-coded interactive builds — choosing the fidelity and medium that best answers the question at hand.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in product design, UI/UX, or interaction design, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
  • Portfolio showcasing product design leadership, conceptual strength, and polished execution across web and mobile.
  • Expertise in both interaction and visual design, with deep fluency in design thinking and user-centered methods — research, synthesis, journey mapping, rapid ideation, and usability testing.
  • Experience with the latest AI design/coding tools — Claude (including Artifacts and Claude Code), Lovable, Framer, Cursor, v0, Figma Make, Midjourney, shadcn/ui, Maze, Hotjar — and demonstrated ability to pick up tools that don’t exist yet.
  • Must understand code-to-canvas and canvas-to-code workflows: starting from AI-assisted tools or agents to increase output and interactivity, and knowing when to move work between AI-generated code and design files.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design and prototyping tools, mainly Figma.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, capable of framing design decisions with clarity and intent.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions and drive alignment in complex, fast-paced environments — including comfort operating without a settled playbook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing, documenting, and evolving team workflows — running tool evaluations, defining criteria for adoption, and turning experiments into repeatable practice.
  • Background in UX/UI and the software space.
  • Experience guiding teams through ambiguity and shaping design direction in highly iterative environments — including periods of tooling or process change.
  • Passion for digital products, with an ability to push the boundaries of interaction design while maintaining usability and elegance.
