Business Solutions Analyst

Description
The Role:
At its core, this is a Data Governance and Master Data Management (MDM) role: you will own the enterprise data definitions, semantic models, and data stewardship processes that make our business data trustworthy. Dashboard creation is a downstream output of that governance work, not the primary function of the role.
At Wpromote, we’re building the internal data infrastructure that lets our leadership team run the agency with confidence. We’re looking for a Business Solutions Analyst who can bridge the gap between our business stakeholders and our data architecture: someone who speaks fluent finance, HR, and operations, and can translate that into clean semantic models, reliable dashboards, and requirements that our data engineers can actually build.
This is an internally focused role. You won’t be managing client campaigns; you’ll be managing the blueprint for how we understand our own business. That means standardizing how we define and measure things like utilization, profitability, and overhead across Finance, HR, and Operations, then making those definitions real inside Power BI. This is not a traditional reporting analyst role — it is a data governance and data strategy role focused on defining, stewarding, and governing business data so that reporting is consistent and trusted across the organization.
Success in this role looks like:
-Agency leadership trusts internal dashboards and makes decisions from them
-Corporate KPIs are defined consistently and documented across departments
-Power BI semantic models are clean, well-governed, and maintainable
-Data engineers receive clear, unambiguous requirements rather than slide decks
-Executives can self-serve on key metrics without needing a data analyst in the room
-Enterprise data definitions are governed, documented, and centrally maintained through consistent data stewardship and metadata management practices
-Data lineage from source systems through the semantic layer is transparent, documented, and auditable
You Will Be:
Define and Govern Corporate Metrics
-Partner with business stakeholders to establish and document universal KPI definitions
-Establish a business glossary that serves as the single source of truth for internal reporting
-Act as a data steward for core enterprise entities (clients, employees, projects, GL accounts), ensuring consistent Master Data Management (MDM) across systems
-Establish and maintain data governance policies, including data stewardship roles, metadata management standards, and data lineage documentation across the reporting ecosystem
Own the Power BI Semantic Layer
-Design and govern centralized Power BI semantic models ensuring consistent business logic, clean relationships, and a single source of truth across internal management reports
-Validate star schemas that support executive-level reporting without requiring end-user data literacy
-Create model documentation and version control practices
-Maintain the semantic layer as a governed data asset, with clear metadata management, documented data lineage, and defined data stewardship ownership
Prototype and Validate Dashboards
-Build high-impact Power BI mockups, operational scorecards, and executive proof-of-concept reports to validate leadership needs before technical build-out
-Iterate quickly based on stakeholder feedback
-Ensure dashboards are intuitive enough for executives to self-serve without training
Translate Business Needs into Technical Requirements
-Serve as the product owner for internal operational data, translating financial and resource reporting needs into clear specs for data engineers
-Document data flows from source systems (project management, time-tracking, accounting) through to the warehouse and visualization layer
-QA delivered work against requirements and flag discrepancies before they reach leadership
-Maintain data lineage documentation from source systems through the semantic layer, supporting governance, auditability, and trust in reported numbers
What You’ll Need to Succeed
-4+ years in a Business Intelligence, Data Strategy, or Business Solutions role with a strong focus on internal operations, financial analytics, or professional services; agency experience is a plus. Candidates with backgrounds in Data Governance, Enterprise Data Strategy, Analytics Engineering, or Finance Transformation are equally encouraged to apply.
-Hands-on Power BI proficiency: semantic modeling, star schema design, DAX, and building clean visualizations for executive audiences
-A translator’s mindset: you can sit in a room with a CFO and a data engineer and make both of them feel heard
-Strong working knowledge of how data flows from operational systems (project management, time-tracking, accounting tools) into a centralized warehouse
-Proven ability to drive alignment across departments with competing definitions of success
-Clear, direct communication; you write requirements that don’t leave room for guesswork
-Working knowledge of data governance frameworks and practices, including data stewardship, business glossary development, metadata management, and data lineage documentation
-Understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) principles and how they apply to enterprise reporting and analytics environments
Nice to Have
-Foundational knowledge of DAX and Power Query (M) for advanced reporting prototypes
-Experience integrating time-tracking platforms (Harvest, Toggl) and accounting systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks) into Power BI datasets
-Familiarity with agency financial models: utilization targets, blended billing rates, gross margin by practice
-Prior work in a post-acquisition integration or org transformation
-Experience leading or contributing to enterprise data governance initiatives, including Master Data Management (MDM) programs and data stewardship frameworks
-Familiarity with data catalog implementations and metadata management tooling
-Experience with ERP or Finance transformation projects
-Background in business process standardization across departments
